Goals and Birthdays

TOMORROW IS MY 17TH BIRTHDAY!
Birthdays are a good time to look back on your past life, but also a good time to look ahead. I saw an article today talking about how it is important to write down your "future picture" or where you see yourself in a certain number of years. So, I decided to do that on my blog. Below are just a few of my goals for my future. They'll probably change as I age and discern God's Will for me. It's a big, scary world out there and it takes much courage to face the challenges that present themselves.
So, I'm asking all of you, my dear readers, to do me a little favor for me on my birthday. Could you just take a minute out of your day and say a prayer for me and my future? I'm not a 100% sure on anything right now. There are times where I want to curl up and hide in my room, trying to shut out the world around me... retreating into my "safety bubble" that I make for myself. As an introvert, it can be very hard and painfu…

B-25 Bombers!!!

I found it very interesting that I am studying WWII right now because today is the 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo! Yesterday, at our very own Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, eleven B-25 Mitchell bombers landed, coming from Grimes Filed in Urbana, Ohio. I wasn't able to go see them, but about thirty minutes ago, I heard a rumbling noise above our house and ran outside to see all eleven of them fly over our house! It truly was an amazing sight as I watched them fly over, thinking of what it would have been like that day for the Japanese 75 years ago. My grandfather, who was in WWII, worked on these planes too!

Though I wasn't able to get any pictures of the bombers, here are a few links I found interesting. Enjoy!

Review: A Temple of the Holy Ghost

A Temple of the Holy Ghost by Flannery O'Connor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Interesting twist as usual with any Flannery O'Connor stories. I found out with her stories that you have to delve deeper to find the true meaning of the story.

I think it had some good tips in it, but I wouldn't implement all the strategies that Mr. Newport suggests.

Review: Mother Angelica: The Remarkable Story of a Nun, Her Nerve, and a Network of Miracles

Mother Angelica: The Remarkable Story of a Nun, Her Nerve, and a Network of Miracles by Raymond Arroyo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing story of complete trust in God. I admire Mother's childlike faith that God would provide everything she needed. I know I still struggle with placing my trust in God, much less placing an entire network with all its debt in His Hands. She is a role model for me in trusting God, forgiving others who have hurt me, and accepting sufferings and trials patiently and with resignation to God's Will.
